Shared Expectations

Welcoming tables require shared respect.

These standards summarize the expectations that apply to GMS-affiliated sessions, community spaces, venues, and related communication.

Respectful conduct

Players and Game Masters are expected to contribute to an environment that is welcoming and respectful to participants, venue staff, and community members. Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, bullying, retaliation, threatening behavior, and abusive language are not permitted.

Safety and boundaries

Participants must respect the safety tools, boundaries, and content limits established for a table. If someone indicates discomfort or asks that a topic stop, shift, or be handled off-screen, that boundary must be respected. No one should be pressured into topics, roleplay, or interactions they have declined.

Venue stewardship

Everyone participating in a GMS-affiliated session must follow venue rules and applicable law. Treat shared spaces, property, staff, and other guests respectfully. Conduct that disrupts venue operations or jeopardizes community relationships may lead to review of continued participation or access to GMS resources.

Alcohol and impairment

Where alcohol is permitted, participants must remain in control of their conduct. Visible intoxication or impairment that disrupts play, compromises safety, or creates venue problems is not permitted.

Photography, recording, and privacy

Photography, video, or audio recording requires clear consent from the people involved. Silence is not consent. Participants may decline or withdraw permission and must not be photographed, recorded, tagged, or publicly identified against their wishes.

Scheduling and communication

Game listings should clearly state the expected schedule, session frequency, start time, session length, and cancellation or rescheduling expectations. Game Masters and players should communicate changes promptly and make reasonable efforts to arrive prepared and begin on time. Each Game Master remains responsible for their table-specific scheduling, cancellation, and player communication practices unless an event listing says otherwise.

Tickets, payments, and refunds

Tickets are usually handled directly by the Game Master running the session unless the event listing says otherwise. Each GM is responsible for publishing their price, payment deadline, cancellation expectations, no-show policy, and GM-initiated cancellation terms. GMS does not process individual session payments or decide individual refund disputes.

Raising a concern

Concerns should be raised privately with the Game Master or GMS rather than escalated publicly. Include a concise written summary and any relevant documentation so the concern can be reviewed fairly.

Review of access and participation

Conduct that materially undermines participant safety, venue relationships, community standards, or the integrity of a GMS-affiliated session may be reviewed. Access to GMS Discord spaces, promotional channels, venue opportunities, and shared resources may be limited or removed.
