December 13, 1926. 1:30 AM. Holmouth, New Hampshire.
Shortly after 1:30 AM a 4.5 earthquake was felt directly northwest of Holmouth. Minor damage was reported from local homes and businesses. Residents later claimed to see smoke and a large black shadow northwest of town. Further investigation revealed The Holmouth Institute in flames. Four deceased patients were found on the grounds while the fire brigade attempted to extinguish the blaze. The historic mausoleum on the grounds was also partially destroyed.
The quiet towns of New Hampshire have gone through a few rough years. Mysterious disappearances, ritual killings, unexplained earthquakes. The residents seem to have become accustomed to these kinds of events.
No one thinks these events are related. Unfortunate circumstances, that is what people say. But work is being done in the shadows. There may be more to these stories than meets the eye.
Will anyone investigate further?
